΄Eskimos΄ winter swimmers group cuts New Year΄s Cake
CORFU. At the end of the event, they arranged to meet again next year.
Continuing a tradition that has lasted nearly 40 years, the winter swimmers "Eskimos" once again cut their New Year's cake this year at their usual meeting spot, at NAOK.
They gathered together, each bringing what they could, prepared their New Year's table, and exchanged wishes.
Afterwards, they all dived into the sea together - with Santa Claus being the last to jump in - singing New Year's carols in the water.
They then cut the New Year's Cake (Vassilopita), with the first piece going to the sea, accompanied by wishes for calm and peaceful waters.
At the end of the event, they arranged to meet again next year.
