Two Corfu shops found to have imitation goods
CORFU. Two shop managers, aged 67 and 60, were arrested in separate incidents, and 14,399 pieces of imitation clothing and other products were seized.
Two men, aged 60 and 67, were arrested in separate incidents on Thursday afternoon, 26/9, in Corfu Town, and a case was filed against them for the offence of counterfeiting.
The two men were arrested by police officers during inspections in cooperation with a team from the Interagency Market Control Unit of the Ministry of Development.
In the first case, in a ready-made clothing and tourist goods shop, where the 67-year-old was manager, 6,709 imitation clothing items and products from various brands were found and seized. In the second case, in a sporting goods shop managed by the 60-year-old, 7,630 counterfeit items were found and seized, including sunglasses, belts, hats, jewellery, bags, wallets, swimsuits, and more.
The two men were taken to appear before the Prosecutor of Misdemeanours, while an administrative fine of 10,000 euros was imposed on each business.
