CORFU. He asked the police officers why they had not cautioned the motorcyclist for passing through a pedestrian area. According to him, they told him to mind his own business and stay out of it!

On Thursday 29/08 the veterinarian and former deputy mayor L. Pagkratis played a leading role in an unpleasant incident.

According to him, late in the evening, while he was having a walk with his grandchildren at the end of the G. Theotoki St., a big motorcycle heading towards the Municipal Theatre brushed past them.

On the other side of the road, he observed a parked patrol car and asked the police officers why they had not cautioned the motorcyclist for passing through a pedestrian area. According to him, they told him to mind his own business and stay out of it.

According to L. Pagkratis, as the conflict escalated, one of the two officers tried to arrest him by grabbing his arm. He did not accept this because he could not leave his grandchildren alone. He apologised to the police for the inconvenience and left.

When passing through Vrachliotis Square, he showed another police officer his bruises that the previous officer caused. They also tried to arrest him, but he did not accept because he could not leave his grandchildren alone.

On Friday morning at 9:30 two police officers visited his veterinarian clinic and told him that he had charges against him and he must go to the police station in order to testify. He was again accompanied by his grandchildren but this time he went with the officers.

After having passed many hours in jail,he was summoned to testify at 14:00, and at 16:30 he appeared before the prosecutor. Consequently, he was released and a date was set for the trial. The charges brought against him were disobedience, threatening behaviour and verbal abuse.
