CORFU. After an effort, they managed to restore the functioning of the heart following the cardiac arrest.

Corfu paramedics saved the life of a 40-year-old man on Tuesday morning, 20/8, after receiving a call that a person had lost consciousness at the Port, in his car. The ambulance crew immediately arrived at the scene, where they found that the man had gone into cardiac arrest and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After an effort, they managed to restore his heart function. They transported him to the Emergency Department of the Hospital, where he was intubated by the doctors.

After the incident, the president of the Corfu Ambulance Service (EKAB) employees union, Christos Kypriotis, posted the following on Facebook:

"Public servants indeed!! Yes, those public servants who run, risk their lives, strive, but above all, fight against death to save a human life!!

"And especially a young person! This morning, the EKAB call centre received a call about a person who had lost consciousness at the port (a young man around 40 years old) inside a vehicle. A unit from our service immediately and swiftly arrived at the scene, with the crew confirming cardiac arrest and immediately beginning cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They managed to restore his heart function and transferred the man, with a heartbeat, to the Emergency Department of our hospital! At the Emergency Department, he was intubated, with the doctors ensuring the definitive treatment of the man! Congratulations to our colleagues! This is what emergency pre-hospital care means! This is EKAB!! We wish the man a speedy recovery and hope he returns home healthy and fully functional to his family!!"
