Danish Ambassador meets with Deputy Mayor for Tourism at Old Town Hall

CORFU. The Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyros Chalikopoulos, welcomed the Danish Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Per Fabricius Andersen, at the Old Town Hall on Friday, June 7.
The Ambassador, accompanied by the Danish Consul in Corfu, Lefkada, and Epirus, Mr. Pericles Tsipis, paid a courtesy visit, during which he was informed about the comparative advantages of Corfu as a tourist destination by the Deputy Mayor.
The Danish Ambassador expressed keen interest in what Corfu has to offer. The Deputy Mayor discussed the significant investments made in recent years, including the upgrading of existing hotels and the construction of new hotel units. He pointed out that the new municipal administration's intent is to develop tourism sustainably, in order to protect the cultural heritage and natural environment.
The discussion also turned to environmental issues, such as energy, recycling, waste management, and water resources, with the Deputy Mayor stating: "Denmark's progressive approach to sustainability and environmental management, based on a policy of long-term planning, should not only be a source of inspiration but also a model for adopting developmental choices for the sustainability of our region."
The Ambassador thanked the Deputy Mayor for the welcome and warm hospitality, stating that this meeting not only signifies but also strengthens the long-standing and friendly relations between Greece and Denmark.
