Traffic police checks - most fines for speeding and not wearing helmet

Traffic Police carried out checks between 8 and 12 May  in Corfu, Lefkada, Zakynthos and Cephalonia.

- There were 75 police teams
- 2,024 vehicles were checked
- 508 offences were confirmed - 278 in Corfu, 143 in Zakynthos, 50 in Lefkada and 37 in Cephalonia.

These were as  follows:

- 11 for driving under the influence
- 113 for speeding
- 4 for using a mobile phone whilst driving
- 8 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 3 for running red lights
- 4 for driving dangerously
- 15 for not using seat belts
- 51 for not using helmets

- 24 for driving without a licence
- 9 for MOT violations

- 266 other offences
