Police checks over Easter

Traffic Police carried out checks over the Easter period (26/4 - 7/5) in Corfu, Lefkada, Zakynthos and Cephalonia.

- There were 102 police teams
- 3,509 vehicles were checked
- 1,067 violations were confirmed - 660 in Corfu, 167 in Lefkada, 125 in Zakynthos and 115 in Cephalonia.

These were as  follows:

- 23 for driving under the influence
- 182 for speeding
- 10 for using a mobile phone whilst driving
- 24 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 1 for running red lights
- 5 for driving dangerously
- 24 for not using seat belts
- 79 for not using helmets

- 1 for not using child's seat

- 47 for driving without a licence
- 51 for MOT violations

- 620 other offences
