Municipality clears seaweed along Garitsa shore road

CORFU.The clearing of seaweed brought up by the sea onto the pavement in Garitsa began early this morning.
Mayor Stefanos Poulimenos assigned municipal councillors Takis Theotokis and Spyros Nerantzis to organise the work.
Spyros Nerantzis told Enimerosi that, according to a Ministerial Decision, the responsibility for the cleaning of public spaces, including shore roads and beaches, belongs to the Municipality.
The departments of Cleaning, Greenery, Civil Protection, and Everyday Life participated with a tractor, loader, blowers, and containers. The dry seaweed will be removed, transported to Temploni landfill, and shredded.
