Transport equivalent finally being paid
PIRAEUS. The payments will cover 117,924 citizens and 337,161 ferry and air tickets for 2022, as well as fuel for the first quarter of 2023.
As the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Yannis Pappas announced, the payments of the transport equivalent to the beneficiaries by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, which will amount to €10 million, have started following the approval of the relevant appropriations by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The payments will cover 117,924 citizens and 337,161 ferry and air tickets for 2022, as well as fuel for the first quarter of 2023. As for business fuel, the payments concern 2,974 businesses for the first quarter of 2023 on 43 islands.
As part of the completion of the payment process, payments will continue in the first half of 2024.
With regard to the businesses and applications submitted for 2022, the Intermediate Body of the Operational Programme "Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship" (EFEPAE) and the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures are expanding their checks of the relevant applications, as provided for by the Joint Ministerial Decision and following findings, in order to ensure the fair allocation of available resources and the public interest.
