CORFU. In the framework of the Capodistrian Development΄s participation in the European ΄URBACT IV΄ Programme.

Within the framework of the participation of the Development Agency 'Capodistrian Development S.A.' in the European 'URBACT IV' Programme, specifically in the town networks 'Let's go circular!' with Munich as the lead city and 'Re-Gen' with Verona as the lead city, the first meeting of the Local Action Groups of the two networks was held on 20 November in the event hall at Faliraki. Present at the meeting were the Deputy Mayor Panayiota Tzanne, the Municipal consultant Viktoras Dimoulis, the Corfu Hospital Director Manto Egglezopoulou, the Head of the Special Management Service of the 'Ionian Islands Programme' Konstantinos Aspiotis, the President of the Corfu Hoteliers Association Babis Voulgaris, principals of Corfu Town schools, the representative of the Corfu Chamber of Commerce and potential participants in the programme and the project team from the Development Agency.

The purpose of the meeting was to present the programme's structure, the set goals, and the next steps required for its effective implementation, both by the head expert and the project team members. An analysis was also conducted regarding the pivotal role that the involved parties will play during their participation in the so-called 'Local Action Group,' which is a fundamental component of the programme's success.

An extensive discussion between the participants followed on the issues the two projects-town networks are dealing with, in which the Development Agency is involved. In particular, an analysis was made of the causes of the problems of the two networks as well as their results, which have a direct impact on the local community. In addition, the participants expressed their vision by projecting into the future how they imagine the implementation of the two themes. The sharing of the participants' views on the central themes of the two projects is a key component of the Integrated Action Plan, which is the final deliverable of the programme.

More meetings will be held in the future with the Local Action Groups of the two projects, in which other bodies as well as citizens who want to actively participate in the formulation of ideas and decisions will have the opportunity to participate.
