΄Digital Skills for the Citizens΄ event as part of Interreg Greece-Albania 2014-2020 programme
CORFU. An all-day event that will take place on Thursday 19 October in Corfu.
The Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027 and the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme "Greece-Albania 2014-2020" are organising an event entitled "Digital Skills for the Citizens" as part of the "Interreg Cooperation Day". It will be an all-day event that will take place on Thursday 19 October in Corfu.
The European Commission has designated 2023 as the "European Year of Skills", with the aim of supporting citizens in acquiring the right skills to help them secure quality jobs and thus contribute to the sustainable development and competitiveness of European communities.
As part of the events of the "European Year of Skills" as well as the "Interreg Cooperation Day" events of other cross-border programmes to be (or having been) organised across Europe, the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027 and the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg IPAII Cross-border Cooperation Programme "Greece-Albania 2014-2020" aim to highlight cross-border cooperation projects that contribute through their actions to improving the citizens' quality of life in Greece and Albania in various sectors.
Digital tools developed in the framework of projects such as WASTE RREACT (tool that facilitated the understanding of the separate waste collection), GOAL n ZEBs (digital platform about energy efficiency), iTHEA and THEMA (applications for the promotion of thematic tourist routes), VIRTUALAND (digitisation platform of cultural assets), SMARTiMONY and TACTICALTOURISM (digital storytelling for cultural heritage sites) will be presented. In addition, projects with outstanding added value that have been implemented on the island of Corfu will be presented (demonstration of a digital olive fruit fly trap in the framework of the OLIVE CULTURE project and a waste collection vehicle in the framework of EHORECAWANET).
In the framework of the iAlarms project, the prediction and awareness platform for extreme weather events developed by the project partners will also be presented.
Thus, through the "Interreg Cooperation Day" some of the best practices that have been implemented so far will be highlighted, as the Interreg IPAI ICBC "Greece-Albania 2014-2020" Interreg Programme is nearing its completion.
It will be a full-day event. During the morning hours, the special guests from Greece and Albania will be given a tour of the Achillion Palace, while at 16:00 the presentations on the digital tools developed in the framework of the programme will take place in an outdoor area of the Ionian University (Tsirigoti Square 7, former psychiatric clinic).
