Concert with Ionian Islands music
At the Municipal Theatre on Saturday, 30 September at 20:00.
Coordinator, Professor Emmanouil Gergatsoulis, along with the collaborators and partner organisations of the project "Preservation and Promotion of the Musical Heritage of the Ionian Islands Region through the Digital Management of the Philharmonic Archives," invite you to a concert)that will take place on Saturday, September 30th, at 8:00 p.m., at Corfu Municipal Theatre.
The concert will feature selected musical works by composers of the Ionian Music School, which belong to the musical archives of five Philharmonic Societies of Corfu participating in the project ('Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society, Korakiana 'Spyros Samaras' Philharmonic Society, Skripero Philharmonic Society, Sinarades Philharmonic Society, Gastouri 'Omonia' Philharmonic Society, Pallis Philharmonic School (Lixouri) and Cephalonia Philharmonic School). Musicians from all the philharmonic societies will participate in the performance of the musical works.
The purpose of this project is the preservation and dissemination of musical works from the Ionian Music School that are stored in the archives of seven philharmonic societies in the Ionian Islands, through digitisation, transcription, organisation and availability to the general public.
The project is managed by the Digital Libraries and Online Publishing Laboratory of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology at the Ionian University, within the framework of the Operational Programme "Ionian Islands 2014-2020," co-funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund - ERDF) and National Funds (OP 5031251).
