15 arrests in the Ionian Islands in six hours

CORFU. 194 driving violations.
Between 07:00 and 13:00 on Wednesday 9 August, police in the Ionian Islands checked 482 vehicles and 616 individuals, leading to 15 arrests - 10 in Zakynthos, 4 in Cephalonia and one in Lefkada for the following offences:
- 2 for illegal possession of weapons
- 4 for driving without a licence
- 3 catering establishment for lack of proper health certificates
- 6 for shoreline violations in Zakynthos
There were 194 driving offences, including the following:
- 25 speeding
- 10 not wearing seat belts
- 32 not wearing crash helmet
- 3 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 6 without driving licences
- 1 with uninsured vehicle
- 3 without MOT
plus 114 other violations.
26 vehicles were immobilised for driving without a licence and without a crash helmet. not having a proper exhaust and not having MOT.
There was also two cases of smoking in a no smoking area and a club and knife were confiscated.
