CORFU. Dimitris Roussos: "No spike in flight cancellations due to the recent wildfires was observed."

July is ending on a positive note at Corfu Airport, continuing its good performance from the previous period.

The recent wildfires in northeast Corfu did not affect international flights, with airline schedules operating normally.

The President of Corfu Civil Aviation Employees Union, Dimitris Roussos, said: "There was no spike in flight cancellations due to the recent wildfires. There were very few cancellations during the month, which is to be expected and mainly attributed to the airlines themselves, and is not surprising."

2.456 international flights

According to Dimitris Roussos, a total of 2,456 international flights arrived compared to 2,360 last July, representing a 5% increase.

Regarding passenger arrivals, he says that there are expected to be around 400,000 arrivals, compared to 390,000 last year.

Top five countries

Once again, the UK was the top country with 742 flight arrivals, showing a slight increase from 712 last year. Germany, which also had a slight increase, was second with 401 compared to 379. Third was Italy, with 307 compared to 280 last year. Poland was fourth with 161 compared to 149, and France, the only country experiencing a decline, ranked fifth with 153, down from 191 last year.
