Building permit for Erimitis hotel complex granted

CORFU. The Ministry of Environment and Energy (Directorate of Architecture, Building Regulations & Licensing) granted a permit on July 25th for the "Development of a Holiday Resort Village 'Kassiopi Corfu'," comprising a hotel complex with 180 beds, a villa complex and an apartment complex, located in the area of Artavani (Erimitis) in the region of Agios Stefanos, Corfu – Touristic Port Facility.

The association Erimitis Plus, which opposes the investment, announced that they have filed an application with the Supreme Administrative Court (Council of State) for its annulment. Additionally, on Monday, July 31st, they will submit an "application for the suspension of any works related to this project and a lawsuit to challenge the concession of property ownership from TAIPED to the purported investing company."

They further called for support, stating: "Erimitis is ours, and it will remain ours, the property of the Corfiot people. Period! We won't let them take it away... We call on the people of Corfu and the movements to stand beside us, as always in the struggle, to be vigilant and increase their visits to the area."
