Clarification on the extent of the wildfire

Mayor Meropi Ydraiou and Deputy Mayor for Tourism Panayiotis Varouchas contacted British and other international media outlets in order to prevent the false impression that a larger area than the actual fire location was burning. The Central Municipality addressed the issue both in online and printed media, especially those with extensive circulation. The Mayor told Enimerosi that these necessary clarifications were well-received and contributed to more accurate reporting.

There were similar actions and statements from the Corfu Hoteliers Association president Babis Voulgaris and travel agents, among others.

The Enimerosi website has also been bombarded with similar questions. It should be clarified that both editorial teams, Greek and English, are collaborating to ensure the provision of information, enabling everyone to learn about developments in Corfu and the news from the fire fronts on Mount Pantokrator.
