Central Corfu Municipality to receive €2m from former Club Med land
CORFU. The money will be used to improve the area and the Phaeaces district residents΄ quality of life, following consultation with the local community.
The Central Corfu Municipality will use the €2,046,255 for the benefit of the residents of the Phaeaces district with cleaning, lighting, infrastructure and development projects in the area. The money will be given to the Municipality by the "Corfu Gardens" company after the amount has been determined by the responsible Directorate of the Decentralised Administration, in accordance with the law.
The payment of this important amount of money for the upgrading of the area's infrastructure is expected to be made soon. The consultation with the local community and the bodies of the area is to begin soon, so that there can be specific planning and programming of projects.
The Municipal Council's decision concerned the amendment of the "Corfu Gardens" company's obligation to give a section of land to Central Corfu Municipality to payment of money, in accordance with the law. The Ionian Islands Regional Council had also taken a decision on the matter.
The Municipal Authority has already started consultations with the local community on how to allocate the money for the upgrading of the area and the residents' quality of life and will continue to do so in the coming period as well.
