CORFU.

«Αδικαιολόγητη η ολιγωρία που επιδεικνύει η Περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων στην αντιμετώπιση του προβλήματος στο νησί μας»

A joint letter has been signed by 6 Corfu tourist bodies regarding the lack of insecticide spraying, which has resulted in an escalation of the mosquito problem on the island. The bodies are requesting the immediate intervention of the Ionian Islands Regional Authority to resolve the issue, which is generating negative comments from visitors and simultaneously poses a risk to public health.

The letter

The inexcusable neglect by the Ionian Islands Regional Authority in addressing the mosquito problem on our island is causing immense concern and anger among the tourist bodies of Corfu.

Up until now, the necessary actions to carry out insecticide spraying have not been taken, resulting in the risk of severe infections. Due to this problem, we are receiving complaints and negative comments about our island from our visitors.

We urge the Ionian Islands Regional Authority to immediately address this major issue concerning public health, even though valuable time has already been lost.

We all know that timely planning in combating mosquitoes is crucial for effectiveness. Therefore, the Ionian Islands Regional Authority must demonstrate responsibility by taking immediate and obvious actions.

On behalf of the bodies,

Spyros Halikiopoulos - President of the Association of Corfu Travel Agents (AOCTA)

Pericles Katsaros - President of the Corfu Federation of Tourist Accommodation Businesses

Haralambos Voulgaris - President of the Corfu Hoteliers Association

Konstantinos Mouzakitis - President of the Ionian Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship
