Christina Poulitsi performs in Corfu International Festival

CORFU. The internationally renowned soprano performed popular Italian bel canto arias, accompanied by pianist Dimitris Giakas.

On a special evening, as part of the Corfu International Festival commemorating the 100th anniversary of Maria Callas' birth, the internationally renowned soprano Christina Poulitsi performed popular Italian bel canto arias, accompanied by pianist Dimitris Giakas.

The event, which took place in Plakada, gathered a considerable audience, attracting not only the attendees but also passersby who were enchanted by the magnificent performances.

Christina Poulitsi studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin as a recipient of a scholarship from the organisation that Maria Callas herself created to support young Greek artists in perfecting their studies, as well as the 'Alexandra Trianti' scholarship.

With the renowned Maestro Zoubin Meta as her mentor, she began her career with his recommendation letter to the Dresden State Opera. Since then, she has performed in some of the world's largest theatere, such as the Royal Opera in London, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Rome Opera, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Tokyo, Zurich, Shanghai, Seattle and more.

She is considered one of the best interpreters of the role of the Queen of the Night in the world, and she has achieved great success in performing roles of Italian bel canto, such as Lucia di Lammermoor in the first co-production of the National Opera of Greece with the Royal Opera in London, Violetta Valery in Hamburg, Gilda in Florence, the Athens Festival, The Sleepwalker, Pamira and more. She has also performed in German and French repertoire, such as Manon by Massenet at the National Opera of Greece and Konstanze with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The Nightingale by Stravinsky and others.

She has collaborated with renowned conductors, such as Zoubin Meta, Giannandrea Noseda, Michele Mariotti, Christian Thielemann, and directors Barry Kosky, Katie Mitchell, Roberto Abbado, Arturo Marelli and more.
