Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipal community pharmacy supports, on a monthly basis, over 100 individuals who belong to vulnerable groups and are in need of medical care.
It provides free medication, medical supplies, and parapharmaceutical products. At the same time, it has implemented a medicine recycling programme, calling on members of the public to donate medications before they expire to the Municipal Community Pharmacy so that they can be provided free of charge to people in need.
Since October 2021, in collaboration with Givmed, the Community Pharmacy has donated 1,281 boxes of medications worth €15,365 and 324 health products worth €5,902.
The recycling of medications and medical supplies is one of the recycling initiatives developed within the framework of the ICC (Intelligent Cities Challenge) programme.
Through the management and free distribution of non-expired medications, which used to end up in the rubbish, burdening the environment, the Municipality of Central Corfu has implemented a programme with social and environmental importance.
The Community Pharmacy is located in the old town at 11 Dionysiou Solomou St. and any member of the public who wishes to do so can call for information on 26610 30699 during working days and hours.
