CORFU. Drivers are complaining that they can only see that the road is closed after driving several kilometres.
Drivers were complaining that there are warning signs for the closed Kourkoumeli bridge only 150m away.
About 15,000 vehicles of all types pass over the bridge every day, but drivers are only realising that the road is closed after they have driven several kilometres.
The works for the static reinforcement of the bridge is estimated to last about two months, barring unforeseen circumstances.
As Enimerosi published on 16 February, the road will be closed to traffic in order to repair the damage found in the bridge when the Regional Technical Works Department inspected all of Corfu's infrastructure following Ballos.
Vehicles will use the rural and municipal roads of the area until the works for the temporary static reinforcement of the bridge will be carried out. In particular, drivers will either have to follow the 'Livadakia' road or the Temploni-Alykes road.
