CORFU. Healthy diet and traditional Ionian Islands products.
The Ionian Islands Regional Agri-Food Partnership is organising an educational event at Corfu Special Primary School on Friday 9 February in collaboration with the Ionian Islands Regional Education Department following the approach that all forms of exclusion should be removed from education.
The aim of the aforementioned collaboration is to promote equal education and provide the necessary resources for all pupils to live independently and their smooth integration in the community.
Through experiential awareness raising activities, games and the telling of stories as well as projects to gain knowledge, familiarity will be cultivated in the children with the following:
- healthy diet
- protection of the environment
- traditional Ionian Islands products
Raising awareness of the basic rights of all children to participate equally in all aspects of social life can be effectively achieved through the cooperation of local bodies, authorities and the academic community. The state has an institutional obligation to develop the means and adopt functional activities to aid the acceptance of diversity.
The overall objective of the event is to integrate the philosophy which has the conviction that the world is one big social group made up of different beings and validating and respecting their individuality. All pupils must have equal access to quality education regardless of who they are and where they are from because supporting diversity is the sign of a healthy society.
There will be a similar event on Friday 10 February for children from the 'Papagalakia' Children's Day Care Centre in the Regional Council hall.
