CORFU. The protest will take place in the Evg. Voulgareos pedestrian precinct on Monday 9 January at 18:30.
The doctor and Municipal Councillor Chrysostomos Boukas is inviting the whole local community to a peaceful protest for the supreme good of health:
Dear fellow citizens,
I am calling on everyone to take part in a peaceful event for the supreme good of our life - health.
We have been watching for a long time now everything that is happening in our island in the health sector in general and the hospital in particular: indignation, awe and fear for tomorrow.
I never thought that just one person would have so much power to unite the whole society, regardless of age, gender, social beliefs or political beliefs. We give you credit for that, Mr. Roubatis! He is a modern Hercules with his accomplishments.
I am calling on every mother with her small child, every father with his child on his shoulders, elderly women and men, workers and scientists, all the young people of the island, students, trade, social and scientific associations, every citizen from the town or the villages, from all over Corfu, to take part in the protest in the Evg. Voulgareos pedestrian precinct on Monday 9 January at 18:30.
Make it a historic day: "I was there".
We, all of us together, must be the bosses of our island and our will must become a reality. No one should be above the people!
There will be no guides or leaders, we will not march with banners.
Write slogans on a piece of cardboard or a sheet of paper, let your children draw through their own eyes what they think is right, let the shop windows be filled with thoughts and dreams and let's lift them up in the air.
I'll try to borrow a megaphone and walk among the people. Anyone who thinks they have something to say, let them say it. Educated or not, poor or very poor, man or woman, young or old, let them speak freely, because health is worth the same for everyone, because the dream of a decent life fills us all.
It is an opportunity to pave the way we wish and dream of.
I personally will be there. Even alone, waving a piece of paper in the air with my wishes written on it and going back and forth.
Because I made my choice a long time ago: "better crazy than on my knees."
