Former Greek football star Fanis Gekas visits Skripero Junior High and High School

The former Greek international footballer Fanis Gekas visited Skripero Junior High and High School yesterday to the delight of all the pupils there. He met with the children and discussed the difficulties and sacrifices to be a top athlete - and signed shirts, of course!
The former international, who is originally from Larissa, is now considered to be part of the Corfu community as he spends a large part of his time here with his Corfu wife and children.
Skripero teacher Kostas Kostalis said: "A Greek football legend, who wowed the German Bundeslige and is a professional with a good character and morals. The former international footballer Fanis Gekas who has given us all such pleasure honoured us with his presence here."
Since last June Fanis Gekas has been the Technical Director at the Turkish football club Akhisarspor.
