CORFU. Meetings will be held with the 15-member Pupils΄ Councils from all the Central Corfu secondary schools.

For the first time, Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Secondary School Education Committee is creating a system in which it will talk and work with the 15-member Pupils' Councils in all schools.

The School Committee President Kostas Kostalis held the first meetings with Pupils' Councils from Corfu 5th High School, the Vocational High School, Skripero Junior High School and the 1st High School. Today he met with the councils from the 2nd and 3rd High Schools.

The discussions were open, constructive and frank and they will continue with all the other Central Corfu schools.

The local authority wants pupil representatives to take part as members of the Secondary School Education Committee and is also looking into setting up a radio station to be designed and run by pupils.

Committee President Kostas Kostalis said: "Along with Mayor Meropi Ydraiou and the councillor responsible for education Maria Zervou, we are treating pupils, Corfu's young generation, as active citizens and future leaders. We have opened up a new channel for dialogue and cooperation, which can only have a positive outcome for the school community."
