Stray dog injures British woman, 62, in Sfakera

CORFU. According to the Regional Police, no complaint has been lodged yet but the matter will be investigated.

A large stray dog attacked a 62-year-old British woman in Sfakera, North Corfu on Friday afternoon. The woman suffered multiple injuries and underwent three hours surgery at a private clinic in Roda. She is now hospitalised in Corfu Polyclinic out of danger.

According to the Regional Police, no complaint has been lodged yet but the matter will be investigated.

North Corfu Deputy Mayor Thanassis Skembris told Enimerosi that, according to information received, the incident took place when the woman tried to feed the stray dog and it attacked her, causing multiple injuries.

The surgeon Dr. Mastoras told Enimerosi that there were injuries to the left forearm, the throat - very close to the carotid artery, the ear and the right forearm.

The medical staff at the Roda private clinic were able to stabilise the 62-year-old woman's condition and up to now, the grafts have taken.

According to Dr. Mastoras, a German woman was also attacked by the same dog a few days ago and there was another similar attack on Saturday without serious injuries.
