6 Corfu women presented with awards for International Women΄s Day

Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality organised a special event at the Municipal Theatre today for International Women's Day: "Woman's position in the new reality of the 21st century".

The following speakers took part:

- Eleni Karoumbi, businesswoman: "Women in Business, Work and the Economy"
- Konstantinos Spiggos, MD, PgD, Neurologist: "Relations between the two sexes in the 21st century"
- Sofia Zaharatou, child psychiatrist, family advisor: "Motherhood and family relations"



Mayor Meropi Ydraiou presented awards to the following six Corfu women for the social contributions:

Francesca Georgopali - Volunteer firefighter, Civil Protection Service employee

Sofia Gini - Naval lieutenant

Eleni Karaisoglou - Ambulance Service paramedic

Aliki Manatou - Ambulance Service paramedic

Anneta Tselenti - Psychiatrist

Eftichia Laskari - Red Cross volunteer, YWCA President, Soroptimists founder member, Children's Library founder
