CORFU. Corfu Association of Private Tourist Bus Owners concerned about the new development law that is excluding them from any kind of aid.

The Association is asking for the support of the three MPs of the island, in order for the government to reconsider its decision on the issue of subsidies, which does not include important sectors of the tourism economy.

The Association sent the following letter to the three Corfu MPs:

“Dear Sirs,

We were sadly informed that the businesses of tourist buses and tourist agencies have been excluded from any kind of subsidy or aid through the new development law, which will be discussed in the Parliament in the coming days.

We really cannot understand the reasons for our exclusion. Unfortunately, the state continues to only assist specific sectors of tourism, ignoring other important sectors.

The Association of Private Tourist Bus Owners is calling on the island's MPs to help the Ministers of Tourism and Development & Investment to understand our major contribution to the development of Greek tourism and to reconsider their decision by including us in the subsidised businesses. Especially after the exhaustion of small and medium-sized businesses due to the pandemic, it is essential to strengthen our sector before our businesses are completely destroyed and there are thousands more unemployed.”
