Emergency measures due to worsening of weather conditions

CORFU. The Regional Authority and all the responsible services, are ready to deal with any problems that may arise.
Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas met with the Regional Fire Chief Nikos Roumeliotis, the Ionian Islands Regional Civil Protection Coordinator Antonis Sourvinos and the Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection Nikolaos Miliotis in order to coordinate and take emergency measures for the imminent worsening of weather conditions expected in the following three days.
Drivers and citizens are requested to be particularly careful and not go out if it is not necessary during the weekend.
The weather forecast
According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds along with snowfall in the mountains are expected from Thursday evening until the early hours of Sunday morning.
1. From Thursday evening (9 December) until Friday afternoon (10 December) the Ionian Islands, Epirus, Mainland Greece and western Peloponnese will be affected.
2. From Friday night (10 December) a new wave of bad weather will affect the whole country with heavy rains and thunderstorms, as well as snowfall in the northern mainland. The Ionian Islands are among the areas that will initially be affected.
