No updates regarding Corfu Ambulance Service paramedics for the water ambulance

The new Coastguard vessel, which is fully equipped for the transfer of patients, will start offering its services in a few days. However, employees have not been informed about the procedure and its staffing with paramedics, who will provide pre-hospital emergency care.
 
Specifically, the EKAB Workers' Union stated the following:
 
The arrival of the water ambulance in Corfu is a very important addition to the EKAB when it comes to the transfer of patients. The latter will now be able to be transferred as planned and with dignity and, if they need any medical treatment during the transfer, it can be done professionally by the accompanying doctor. We should all support this great new development and give the water ambulance the attention it deserves. It is certainly something that concerns all citizens and especially all of us health professionals who – while waiting for it to start offering its services – we feel that some basic functions of the water ambulance are still unclear.
 
We have not yet been informed whether it will be manned by EKAB paramedics and we are wondering:
 
a) Who will provide first aid and, in particular, pre-hospital emergency care in case, for example, of a maritime accident?
 
b) Who will stand by the patient until the latter is transferred the nearest health centre?
 
c) Who will check the vessel's medical equipment (oxygen masks, cannulas, electrodes or defibrillator batteries, feeding tubes, oxygen devices, etc.) as well as the proper functioning of the vessel's medical machines?
 
We would like to stress that the only provider of pre-hospital emergency care is the EKAB and, therefore, the vessel should be staffed by paramedics from our service.
 
We all welcome the arrival of the water ambulance and wish it nothing but success.
