CORFU. "The only responsibility should be that of the customer and the state should be responsible for checks."

The President of Corfu Chamber of Commerce has sent the following letter to the Minister for Development Adonis Georgiades and Finance Minister Christos Staikouras regarding the new measures.

Dear Sirs,

We are writing to express our serious concern about the sustainability of our local businesses.

We understand that as part of the national effort to deal with the pandemic and limit the spread of coronavirus, the government is taking measures to encourage more people to get vaccinated.

For the last one and a half years the business community has made the maximum effort to protect public health with great sacrifices and losses. These sacrifices and losses have had serious consequences and now there are new measures which, we are absolutely certain, will lead to further losses.

The role of businesses is to serve both vaccinated and unvaccinated customers without discrimination.

We would therefore call on the government to revise the measures which it announced, in collaboration with business organisations and chambers of commerce, and announce measures to support the businesses that have been hit to compensate for their losses.

The only responsibility should be that of the customer and the state should be responsible for checks.
