CORFU. A solution has still not been found regarding suitable premises for Corfu Ambulance Service (EKAB).
At the moment, the premises are located in the Platytera area in Evg.Napoleontos St., which leads to Mantouki. As has been pointed out many times by the Ambulance Service Employees Union, the ambulances have to park on the narrow street and are completely exposed to passersby and to those who may wish to do damage.
The photo (see above) published by the union president Christos Kypriotis shows clearly the consequences of not having suitable premises.
Just the other day the ambulance was hit and dented and then a 'passerby' sprayed graffiti on it.
The problem becomes even worse when you take into account the fact that the ambulances have to go to Ioannina for repairs and maintenance!
The statement issued by the union says: The unresolved problem of unsuitable premises for Corfu Ambulance Service has once again prompted members of the public to express their concerns artistically - this time, unfortunately, on our ambulances. Due to the fact that we do not have suitable premises, anyone who so wishes can damage the vehicles that are there to protect the lives of the public...
Today we have this graffiti, yesterday we had a vehicle hitting the ambulance - what will happen tomorrow?
