CORFU. According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the Northern Ionian will be at the centre of the phenomena.
According to the forecast from the National Observatory in Athens, atmospheric disturbance in Italy is expected to create a low pressure area which will gradually move eastwards, bringing severe phenomena to several areas in Greece from Wednesday evening which will last until the end of the week.
This will be the first general wave of bad weather for the autumn, 110 days after the several days of rain in the first half of June.
The severe phenomena will, in some cases, include hail and strong winds.
There will be occasional heavy rainfall in the burnt-out areas of Evia and Peloponnese.
The areas most affected will be parts of Western Greece (Northern Ionian, Epirus, Western Mainland), where the phenomena will not only be severe but will also have a longer duration.
Rain is expected in Corfu from Wednesday evening and storms during the night.
Civil Protection Service
The Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection told ERT Kerkyra this morning that the Regional Administration is prepared to respond to the severe conditions that may arise during the night and on Thursday morning there will be a coordination meeting with all the services involved.
