CORFU. 300 runners from around the world are taking part in the Corfu Mountain Trail, in its 9th year, including some big names in mountain running.

This major sports tourism event has attracted top runners due to its impeccable organisation and the beautiful routes with properly signed paths going through Corfu countryside and traditional villages.

The geomorphological features, the beauty of Corfu nature and the mild climate make the event an attractive prospect, which can be seen by the fact that approximately 65% of the participants are from abroad - taking the opportunity to combine sport and tourism.

Routes

There are four routes - 10km, 20km, 40km and 110km (Ultra Trail) - which all set off at different times in order to follow the necessary health measures.

On Saturday 22 May the 110km trail sets off from Ipsos at 06:00 and finishes in Messonghi.

The 40km trail sets off at 16:00, starting and finishing in Messonghi.

The 20km trail sets off at 09:30 on Sunday 23 May, starting and finishing in Messonghi.

The 10km trail sets off at 09:40, starting and finishing in Messonghi.

Top runner Ludovic Pommeret

The Corfu Mountain Trail organisers have been working hard over the last few years to attract both Greek and internationally recognised runners.

This year the top international runner Ludovic Pommeret will be taking part. 46-year-old Pommeret has an impressive record worldwide - he won the UTMB® in 2016 (171km / 10075m+) with a time of 22 hours and was 3rd in the CCC® (100.2km / 6150m+) in 2017 and TDS® (145.5km / 9125m+) in 2019.

The Mountain Trail will adhere to all the measures to protect public health, including that of the participants and organisers.
