10 Oct 2020 / 11:16

CORFU. Archaeological objects were found whilst excavating the building site of the partially completed workers΄ homes.

The findings at the workers' homes building site are mainly stone artefacts from the Middle Palaeolithic Period (100,000 - 30,000 BC), a few from the Neolithic Period and from the Bronze Age (1,300 BC). The objects were found throughout the building site (88 stremma).

The Inspectorate of Antiquities has been monitoring the excavations since 2008 with archaeologists recruited for the work. Similar finds were made 20 years on a nearby piece of land near the Aqualand 'lake'.

The archaeological work will be completed in the next 10 days or so, depending on weather conditions.
