CORFU. The traditional celebration of ΄Lampates΄ was celebrated in many parts of the island on 23 June for St. John΄s Eve.
Many towns and villages throughout Greece, including in Corfu, hold a celebration for St. John the 'Klidonas' (teller of the future) or the Lamp or Oregano on 24 June.
It is one of the biggest traditional summer celebrations in Greece.

The celebration includes the traditional jumping over fires and burning the wreaths of flowers from May Day. The celebration begins on St. John's Eve on 23 June.
