Ministry of Finance announces extension of deadline for tax returns to 29 July

ATHENS. The date for payment of the first tax installment, however, remains 31 July.

The Ministry of Finance decided on Thursday 18 June to extend the deadline for submitting tax returns to 29 July.

In its official statement the Ministry says, "Taking into account the special circumstances due to the pandemic, the Ministry is announcing that the deadline for submitting tax returns for individuals and legal entities is being extended to 29 July.

The extension was considered necessary in order to allow all individuals and businesses to submit their tax returns.

We would like to point out that there is no change to the date for payment of the first tax installment, which remains 31 July.

The Government has announced that it will take other steps to help individuals and legal entities as regards payment of taxes.

Please note:

- 2% discount is available for individuals who pay the full amount of income tax at once.

- Payment of income tax by individuals can be made in 8 monthly installments instead of 3 bi-monthly installments, which was previously the case.

- Payment of income tax by legal entities can be made in 8 monthly installments instead of 6 monthly installments, which was previously the case.

- Payment of ENFIA can be made in 6 monthly installments instead of 5 monthly installments, which was previously the case."
