coronavirus
03 May 2020 / 13:51

ATHENS. With disposable gloves and masks now being used on a daily they can frequently be seen thoughtlessly thrown away even on the road.

The Hellenic Recycling Agency (EOAN) has issued guidelines for the disposal of disposable gloves and masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus and calls on members of the public to follow these diligently.

It is especially important at this difficult time to understand which materials can be recycled and which can't so as to properly manage our waste and place it in the correct bins in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Hellenic Recycling Agency Guidelines:

- Whatever we use for protection from coronavirus COVID-19, disposable gloves and masks, is to be thrown away ONLY in bins for mixed waste!
- DO NOT put them in the blue bins.
- DO NOT throw them away on the roads and pavements.
- DO NOT throw them away in recycling bins for paper, plastic etc.
- Disposable gloves and masks are NOT recyclable.
- Take care of your health.
- Stay at Home!

The Minister of the Interior published a photo which he himself had taken in the Zappio, Athens and said, "Let's take care of the environment, don't throw away what you don't need in the street. Let's continue to improve through this difficult time."
