ATHENS. The costs, including transportation to Greece, are covered mainly by donations from institutes and companies.

A specially customised Aegean Airlines aircraft arrived at Athens Airport early on Monday morning bringing a large quantity of health supplies from China donated by the Onassis Foundation and Greek Shipowners.

The flight brought 1.7 million face masks and other flights are expected during the coming week with over 13 million simple surgical masks and personal protection equipment (PPE) such as special masks, clothing and face protectors.

Up to now this is the biggest transportation of donated health supplies to Greece. The transportation of the supplies from China to Athens is in specially customised Aegean Airlines aircraft and cargo flights.

At least another three flights with health supplies are expected in the next few days with the costs, including the transportation, covered chiefly by donations from institutes and companies. The flights set off from Tianjin in China.

Prior to this there have been donations of 11 tons of health supplies from the United Arab Emirates, 5 tons of chloroquine from India and the 1.2 million face masks and health supplies brought to Greece from China by Air China a few days ago.
