CORFU. The statement from the Corfu branch of EKAB says, "...At a time when medical personnel is being congratulated by everyone we became the target of an attack by an untrue report..."

The Corfu branch of EKAB (Ambulance Service) issued a press release following a story that was published saying that they hadn't followed the proper procedure with an incident in Corfu.

The press release signed by the President Spyros Poulis and Secretary Spyros Pandis says the following:

"Regarding the incident on 15/3/2020 and the report that was published on a local website we would like to state the following:

We were called out for a woman who had fainted in the Alepou area. We went to the location and brought in the woman with a police escort due to her aggressive behaviour (swearing, blaspheming and physical attacks) and non-cooperation with the ambulance crew. We took her to the hospital, where she was examined by a doctor and given medical instructions. She then left the hospital by herself. We were never given instructions to take her home and neither did the woman herself ask us. She went with her son to the bus stop and we don't know what happened after that.

At a time when medical personnel is being congratulated by everyone we became the target of an attack by an untrue report. All these years we are in the front line with reduced staff, reduced holidays and days off. We're doing the best we can for the Corfu community. At this difficult time for all of us we would like to ask, for the benefit of all of us, that care be taken with the kind of reports and stories that are written.

We are at the disposal of any public authority if further details are required."
