The 51-year-old foreign national, who resides in Corfu, had symptoms of a virus and apparently told the ambulance staff that he had recently travelled to Milan.
For safety reasons and according to protocol it was decided to take him by ambulance to Ioannina University Hospital, which is the specialist hospital for infections in this region.
