CORFU. The well-known ambassador for Greek cuisine Diane Kochilas is in Corfu to film for her programme ΄My Greek Table΄ on the PBS Channel.

Ms. Kochilas met with Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, Deputy Mayor for Culture Chrysoula Tombrou and Deputy Mayor for Tourism Panos Varouchas at San Giacomo Old Town Hall.

The series 'My Greek Table' has been promoting Greece on the US public TV channel PBS for three years running. Each episode is watched by 1.5m viewers plus over 100,000 on streaming online. The programme is broadcast in the USA and Canada and from 2020 in Australia and Greece on Cosmote History with Greek subtitles.

Diane presents the modern side of Greece, taking viewers on an exciting journey throughout Greece in a series which goes beyond cookery and travel and touches on social and environmental issues amongst others. It presents the traditions and values around the Greek family table as well as the natural beauty, picturesque villages, history and culture of Greece against a rich cultural backdrop.

She was born in New York to Greek parents and as a young girl visited Greece for the first time in 1972. When she grew up she decided to use Athens as her professional base and split her time between Greece and America.

Ms. Kochilas advises top universities such as Harvard and Yale as to how to improve the quality of food provided to students. She has written 17 books on Greek cookery and writes articles for magazines and newspapers such as the New York Times, The Washington Post, Food and Wine and Saveur. She also demonstrates recipes on the biggest American TV channels and for 20 years was a food critic for the Greek newspaper 'Ta Nea'. In America she is a consultant to well-known Greek restaurants such as Boukies, Pylos and Avli and has her own internet channel GreekFoodTv which shows her recipes.
