LACONIA. Paul Evmorfidis is cycling 7,500km on a wooden bike to raise awareness about climate change and to raise money for WWF Greece.

The Laconia businessman Paul Evmorfidis, founder of the company Coco-Mat and well-known for his interest in the environment, set off on the longest journey - and most significant - of his life on Wednesday 8 January in support of WWF Greece and with the slogan 'Move for Nature: Challenge yourself - Save your planet'.

In order to raise awareness about climate change and to raise money for WWF Greece, Paul Evmorfidis will cycle 7,500km from Athens to Nepal on a wooden bike, passing through 8 countries. In Nepal he will ascend Mt. Everest - at 8,848 metres the tallest mountain in the world.

At the heart of this herculean task is Paul's concern for our planet and its life which is being threatened by the climate crisis. This is why he has chosen to use the journey to support WWF Greece through crowdfunding so that the organisation can continue its work to protect the natural environment in Greece.

For 28 years WWF has been working to protect life in Greece - to repair the damage done to forests and prevent future forest fires, to ensure that our seas and sea life remain healthy and to fight against oil exploration and drilling and to halt the climate crisis. WWF's vision is for a clean and sustainable future where humans and nature can live together in harmony.
