ATHENS. Following the Environment Ministry΄s announcement of the 17 new waste management facilities the General Secretary for Waste Management Manolis Grafakos made a statement regarding Corfu, which wasn΄t included in the list.

The General Secretary for Waste Management at the Ministry for Environment and Energy said: "I would like to clarify that yesterday we had a meeting with Kostis Hadjidakis to speed up the procedure for 17 specific Waste Management Facilities in the country. Our aim is for all of these projects to be put out to tender in 2020 in order to absorb all the funds from the ESPA Programme earmarked for waste management. Naturally, we didn't invite those to the meeting whose projects are being put out to tender in the coming weeks, such as Corfu and others, or have already been put out to tender, such as Zakynthos, Lefkada and Kavala. It would have been pointless to ask them to speed up procedures which were already underway."
