CORFU. The Alternative Cultural Workshop free - exchange bazaar opened yesterday and is continuing today.
This is the 11th year that the Alternative Cultural Workshop has held a free - exchange bazaar during the festive season.
There are several reasons for holding the bazaar and the slogan is "Bring what you don't need, take what you need". The Workshop stresses that it is not only for those in need but that they also want to promote the idea of re-using items.
The free - exchange bazaar has also responded to crisis situations such as the Mati fire, Mandra floods and recently the earthquake victims in Albania.
Members of the Alternative Cultural Workshop told Enimerosi: "When there was the financial crisis there were a lot of acitivities to help vulnerable groups such as the homeless, refugees and prisoners."
The bazaar and events are continuing today Sunday and there has been a good response from young and old to the Alternative Cultural Workshop's initiative.
The bazaar is being held at the 1st / 5th Junior High School from 11:00 to 20:00. The Sunday programme includes a workshop at 12:00 to make Christmas gifts, a children's film at 14:00 and at 18:00 there will be a party with traditional music.
