Fighter planes tearing through the Corfu sky!

CORFU. Why were two fighter planes flying low over Corfu Town?
The deafening sound of two fighter planes tearing through the Corfu sky today, Wednesday, at about 15:00 surprised - and in some cases worried - those in town.
The two Air Force planes flew extremely low over Corfu Town and led to a wide range of emotions in those below - from awe and excitement to concern and even fear. The immediate question in everyone's mind was "What are not one, but two fighter planes doing flying over Corfu in the middle of the day in peacetime?"
The answer is quite straightforward - the aircraft were taking part in an exercise which included simulation of an attack on Corfu 'Ioannis Capodistrias' International Airport.
These types of exercise are quite normal as at this time of the year there is much less air traffic at airports like Corfu and so the Air Force can take advantage to carry out training exercises.
So - a false alarm for all those (and there were quite a few) who were worried by the not so discreet presence of two fighter planes in today's dull Corfu sky!
