Low turnout for this year΄s Polytechnic anniversary

CORFU. There was an unofficial ceremony at this year΄s 17 November Polytechnic anniversary in Corfu.
The Ionian Islands Regional Administration's decision not to hold an official ceremony this year came in for criticism from several politicians including former Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos and Corfu SYRIZA MP Alekos Avlonitis who laid wreaths on their own initiative.
The small ceremony was only attended by the Regional SYRIZA Committee, ANASA regional political party. the Municipal party Ekkinisi and Corfu MPs Alekos Avlonitis and Dimitris Biagis.
Earlier in the day the Regional Authority showed its respects by placing red roses at the Polytechnic Memorial.
The Regional Administration was represented by Deputy Regional Governor for Corfu Melita Andrioti, the President and Secretary of the Regional Council Nikos Mouzakitis and Olivia Kardakari and the Deputy Regional Governors for Social Welfare and Infrastructure Kostas Zorbas and Manolis Orphanoudakis.
