CORFU. Corfu long-distance runner Vassilis Alamanos, organiser of the Corfu Mountain Trail, completed a race where just to compete is in itself an achievement!
The ICON Livigno Xtreme Triathlon (3.8km swimming, 195km cycling and 42.2km running) is considered to be the world's most difficult triathlon because of the altitude and weather conditions. There are many who don't manage to complete it due to physical fatigue from the temperatures and altitude.
Most of the event takes place above 2,000 metres (this year's temperatures 0C - 40C) and the cycling section goes through 5 passes above 2,300m and the famous Passo Stelvio at 2,870m. Superathletes from all over the world took part in this 'herculean' test including our own Vassilis who managed to complete this unforgettable experience.
