CORFU. Five new modern hospital stretchers were donated to Corfu General Hospital last week.

According to Corfu Hospital Administration, this is the final part of a donation - total value 100,000 Euros - from a Belgian who was hospitalised at Corfu Hospital with a serious problem two years ago. With the first part of the donation two ultrasound scanners were acquired 2 months ago and are in use - one Fast for the Emergency Department and one hand-held for the Cardiology Department - along with other equipment for the Emergency and Cardiology Departments.

The new hospital stretchers are already in use in addition to or in place of stretchers that were acquired when the hospital opened in 2010 - many of which are problematic due to continuous use. Along with this final part of the donation other equipment was also acquired such as wall-mounted examination appliances for the ENT emergency department, 24-hour holters for the Cardiology Department etc.

"Once again the Administration would like to thank the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous."
