SYDISA signs contract for new Corfu residue landfill study

CORFU. The new landfill will receive the residue from the Integrated Waste Management Facility with a lifetime of 10 - 15 years.
The contract for the preparation of 'Maturation Studies for the Creation of a new Residue Landfill in Corfu' with a budget of 477,145 Euros was signed on 12 August by SYDISA (Solid Waste Management Association) and the contracted companies Epta A.E., Enviroplan A.E., Hydroment Engineering Consultants A.E., Sinthesi & Erevna E.P.E. and Envic E.P.E.
The project is funded by the Cohesion Fund and National Resources via the programme ESPA 2014-2020.
The project comprises the following stages:
- Environmental Impact Study
- Topographical Study
- Geological Study
- Geotechnical Study
- Definitive Study
- Tender Documents
- Total Material Requirement (TMR) - Health & Safety Document
SYDISA President Spyros Aspiotis made the following statement: "We are passing on a significant asset to the next local authority in the crucial area of waste management. The Maturation Studies for the creation of a new residue landfill in Corfu cover all the stages from the siting to the construction of the new residue landfill and will be completed within 10 - 12 months".
The new residue landfill will have a lifetime of 10 - 15 years.
